Due to the huge entry of twenty-seven, there were two groups. Conditions at the start of the day looked grim, there having been a fall of snow overnight. Snow ploughs were out on nearby roads, but all competitors managed to make it through. After a bitterly cold start, which no doubt affected scenting conditions, bright sunshine followed and a number of dogs were graded. Gradings The highest grading of Excellent went to Hertzabruck Hazel, a four-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer bitch owned and handled by Mrs. Jo Tunley of Forfar.
Very Good gradings were awarded to keeper Alistair Lyon's GSP Lord Aragon of Cromdale; Tony Betambeau's GSP Freidewald Merrimack; Robin Hall's GSP Magregor Flambeau; Mrs. V. Stewart's GSP Winterwell Pillowtalk at Levagrad; Mick Canham's GSP Stubblemere Black Magic; Anne Johnson's German Wirehaired Pointer Maplehaze Strathisla and Luise Janniche's Hungarian Vizsla Balinskus Meadie. Ronald Kennedy's GSP Hertzabruck Apollo; Lois Canham's GSP Stubblemere Eowyn and Jo Tunley's GSP Hertzabruck Hebe were all given grading of Good. All graded dogs also received a bag of dog food from our sponsors, Roger Skinner Ltd of Suffolk , which I am sure went a long way to replacing some of the energy expended on this cold and difficult day! We remain indebted to our extremely generous hosts for this outstanding ground, which made the long trek north all the more worthwhile.

Gradings Conditions were not easy. Following a cold Spring in this exposed part of the world, crops were very short, providing little cover for the game in the open. A cold start in the morning was followed by bright, warming sunshine and the following Gradings were made:
VERY GOOD
Questor Eris, a two-year-old German Longhaired Pointer bitch owned by Mr and Mrs D. Winser and handled by David Winser. Kenmillone Chimbota, a five-year-old Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla dog owned by Mr and Mrs M. Caine and handled by Michael Caine. GOOD Bollingbroke Henry of Bitterboom, a two-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer dog owned and handled by John Naylor. Essen Nazia Vonzell, a ten-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer bitch owned and handled by David Smith.

Gradings This test had been postponed from 26th March due to insufficiency of cover caused by the very cold weather earlier this Spring. By 22nd April the crops had more than made up for that! From a card of 30 entrants two groups were run, one being judged by Tony Russell and Rob Gould; the other by David Winser and Rita Dockwray. GOOD Awarded to four of the junior dogs: Bryantscroft Bergamot, a German Wirehaired Pointer bitch owned and handled by Andy Gray; Dallendor Vanquish, an Hungarian Vizsla dog owned and handled by Jennifer Hurley; Arany's Bootsman, a German Longhaired Pointer dog owned by L. Wilks and B. Moss, handled by Brenda Moss and Kewpond Thornton, a German Wirehaired Pointer dog owned by Mr and Mrs Howard and handled by Alan Howard.
